European gas cartel gathers speed in Estonia

As oil price balloons, European gas prices grow. And what is strange, in east-european countries, Estonia being among them, the prices of diesel, the raw product have surpassed those of refined petrol. Beer has become more expensive than vodka. In spite of the fact that diesel prices have been lower than gas for decades and are still low in most European countries:

As one may notice, the eastern european countries have bitter life. But they have had 50 years of good life, communism, at least.

European diesel isn't really "raw product". It has additives and a particular refining process to make sure it burns cleanly and allows modern, high-efficiency turbodiesel engines. This is why, for example, there are few diesel passenger cars in the US - most of the diesel sold there is for long-haul trucks, which can burn low-quality sulphurous fuel oil.

Yea, but communism did not really materialize, did it? It kinda faded and folded before it blossomed, didn't it?
