Blue

Selle luuletuse kirjutasin ma Lissabonis, otsides hullunult midagi - kedagi, sellest omaarust sammu kaugusel olles ja siiski mitte. Kui see luuletus oleks muusika, siis ta oleks fado. Või jazz.

Blue

I came looking for you
in the downtown tonight
A strange quietness
sweeps over the city
You are not here
and you do not know
that the sky above Felicitas Iulia
is grimly gray
as if in pain stretching his arms out
to hug the indifferent river Tejo

I hear her watery heart beat
holding a promise yet to be uttered
and then deciphered

Just like the scary signals
of the angry taxi drivers

Making me mad and tender
at the same time
so i feel the rush
in the thoughts and footsteps
of the downtrodden men
who come silently over the
main square
they have overworked
and lost count
of the hours they've spent
at their desks
long ago have they
lost count of the times
they've dined behind
these desks
chained to
these desks
and look at
the time
it is midnight
already
But Tejo does not
look twice as they sit
on the solitary benches
beside her banks
she does not
see how they stretch out
their stiff limbs
nor does she bother to hear
how they cough out
their pain
how their nicotine-filled lungs
whisper
Although there's regret
in the eyes of the prostitutes

One last worker
staggers over the lonely square
he rises and falls
and rises and falls again
And it might well be
that he does not want to
go anywhere
but the last tram
stops silently behind him

and invites him in

Where the hell are all
the taxi drivers - what if
what if it was you?
