You know, there are about 10 thousand Estonians living and working in the United Kingdom. So, I assure you need not worry about them.

Theresa May: And now You most probably ask about the future relations of the Europaen Union and the United Kingdom. I am most happy to declare that we see our relations both balanced, strong and close. Smooth Brexit is in our mutual interest.

Peaminister Jüri Ratas ja Ühendkuningriigi peaminister Theresa May arutasid tänaõhtuses telefonikõnes Ühendkuningriigi Euroopa Liidust lahkumist, Eesti ja ÜK koostööd ning riikide kahepoolseid suhteid.

Peaminister Ratas ütles Ühendkuningriigi kolleegile, et esmaoluline on vähendada lahkumisprotsessist tulenevat ebakindlust kodanikele ja ettevõtetele. "Minu prioriteet on kindlustada üle 10 000 Eesti kodaniku õigused, kes elavad ja töötavad Ühendkuningriigis nii kiiresti kui võimalik."

Peaminister Ratase sõnul peaks Euroopa Liidu ja Ühendkuningriigi tulevane suhe olema tasakaalus, tugev ja lähedane. "Brexiti sujuv korraldamine on meie kõigi huvides," lisas peaminister.

"Töötame eesistujana selle nimel, et saavutada Euroopa Liidu ja Ühendkuningriigivahel võimalikult hea kokkulepe. See on meie jaoks ülimalt oluline."

Peaminister Ratas tänas Ühendkuningriiki juhtrolli eest NATO lahingugrupi Eestisse tulemisel. "Ühendkuningriigi sõjaline panus Eestis näitab selgelt ja üheselt, et Ühendkuningriik ei lahku Euroopast ning et NATO kollektiivne kaitse ja heidutus on reaalsed." Peaminister kinnitas May'le,et ettevalmistused liitlasvägede vastu võtmiseks lähevad plaanipäraselt.

Peaminister avaldas lootust, et hoolimata Brexitist tiheneb koostöö regionaalselt ja kahepoolselt Ühendkuningriigiga. "British Airways'i start London-Tallinn liinil on hea näide sellest ja kindlasti positiivne märk ettevõtetele ja inimestele."

Peaminister kutsus Theresa May ka Eestisse visiidile.
